Hi, my name is Matthias Bernlöhr, also known as “Bernie“. I was born in Aalen, Germany, in 1986. I grew up in Wasseralfingen, a nice little city near Aalen. Ever since I was a little kid I had a ton of hobby’s. I had to try anything which came in my mind. For example I played soccer, I played table tennis, I trained martial arts and learned to play piano and the trumpet. But playing the trumpet and doing martial arts were the passions of my youth.

In 2009 I started studying Software Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Aalen, Germany. After my graduation in 2013 as Bachelor of Engineering I started studying Industrial Management also at the University of Applied Sciences in Aalen, Germany. I graduated in 2015 as Master of Engineering. Since my graduation I work for a company called MHP – A Porsche Company as software engineer and cloud software architect. My job is also a big passion of my life. I like working as a software engineer in a time where IT has an big impact on everybody’s daily life.

When I was a kid my parents sometimes wanted to go on a little hike on vacation for example. I have to admit that I really didn’t like hiking at all in my youth. But when you’re getting older and free time is rare you realize that being outdoors in the nature is such a wonderful thing. Now, when I finish a hike, I only can think about the next.

Reinhold Messner already said: “Going to the mountains is not something you can read in a book. You have to be out there“. I really like this sentence. It’s definitely kind of my spirit nowadays.
